Got Diabetes?

If you have diabetes and have questions, make Wednesday your diabetes education day. Each Wednesday evening (6:30-8:00 PM) at the DAI there will be a program to help you control your diabetes. The first two weeks of the month the Adult Support Group will have an educational focus on self-management of your diabetes. The two part series covers a variety of topics taught by Norma Mello, CDE. During the sessions, Norma will answer your questions about diabetes as well.

Topics include:

  • What is Diabetes?
  • When should you test your blood sugar and what do the numbers mean?
  • How to recognize and how to treat Hypo- and Hyperglycemia.
  • What to do when you are sick.
  • What you need to know about taking medications.
  • How stress affects diabetes.
  • How to talk to your doctor.
  • What is an HbA1C test?
  • What tests do you need?
  • Is insulin right for you?
  • What are the possible complications and what can you do to prevent them?
